She groaned as she placed her head in her arms, covering her face and muttered, "what have I done?!" Suddenly, negative thoughts seem to fill her mind as she remembered her errors. She started to forget the things that she had done. She blocked out everything, but still, one thought remained in her mind. She needed to quit. Immediately! Forcing herself to calm down, she realized another error and a string of curses flew out of her mouth before she could stop it.

The whole day has been a mess. It seemed that whatever she had done, it was not good enough. Sighing, she took her pass and left her little work space. All she knew was that she had to get out of there. As she walked aimlessly, she thought of the events that had happened that day and let out a howl of frustration. Others looked at her strangely and muttered amongst themselves while only one was silent as he gazed at her irritated look. Having a feeling that someone was watching her, she turned around and seeing nothing out of the ordinary, trudged on.

Just then, she noticed that she had arrived at the canal. Many always wanted to walk quickly away from it, as the water in it was dirty, giving out an unpleasant smell. However, to her, it was their canal... the canal where he had first asked her out, gave her their first hug and shared their first kiss. But as all good things eventually come to an end, so did their relationship. Her love for him had fizzled out first, but he continued to persist. His persistence had become so annoying that she felt suffocated by it and threatened to place a restraining order. The restraining order never took place, as a few days later, he was involved in an accident that led him to a coma and being on life support.

A tear leaked down from her eye and she brushed it away angrily. His family, not being well-to-do, did not have enough to keep him on life support so she had volunteered. Voices were raised and arguments took place, as his family knew that they had broken up and that it was her fault, so why would she want to help them? "Because I still love him," she had murmured quietly. There had been a still silence before the rest had agreed on her promise.
